Buyers Remorse   . . . . .
We purchased this car new in 2004, and was impressed with the reviews in popular ratings magazines and websites.
However, on the walk through post purchase prior to delivery, I learned that it was not a 4 wheel drive, even though I
was assured the Alltrac button activated 4 wheel on the fly during the test drive by the sales rep. I nearly left it on
the dealers lot and asked for my money back. I wish I would have. Since owning it I have found that the driver seats
are uncumfortable on long commutes (average 4hrs round trip per day). The acceleration is pathetic. I hit the gas
pedal and listen to the engine rev for 2-3 second before the car responds. The transmission shifts are hard and often
jump between gears when coming up to speed merging on the highway. My 2000 Chrysler T&C out performs the Highlander.
One of the reasons for puchasing Toyota, was its reliability, but the number of recalls I have had with this car kills
that reputation. I wanted a true SUV, but this thing is built on a Camry frame, has no 4 wheel drive. Toyota only
offers an AWD drive version. This is nothing more than a 2004 version of a 1960 stationwagon. I should have
purchased the Pilot.
