  • Cons:
"This is a great truck. I've had this truck for 200,000 miles and 14 years, and it has never had a serious problem. The most expensive replacement so far has been tires. This engine has worked flawlessly, it is super-powered for this size truck, and with regular oil changes has never let me down. I'm even hesitant to upgrade to a newer Tacoma because the service history on those isn't as good as the 1996-2000 gen. Again, I can't recommend this truck enough. I should note that I have the PreRunner, which is 2-wheel drive, not 4, so it isn't so good off road (slowly, anyway) but it cruises nice and high on the freeway, and gets better than 20mpg, which is great for a 20 year old truck. I love my Toyota."
