  • Comfortable interior
  • Cons:
"Bought this (pre-owned w/one previous owner) 2005 Hyundai Elantra in early 2008 at a local dealer for less than 5 figures-probably because it was a manual shift. Worked well till I recently traded it in for a car with better gas mileage & automatic (CVT) transmission. On the highway I got around 35 mpg. & of course less in city driving. Mechanically I had no major problems. Handled well on the road. Traded in just short of 90000 miles. When shopping for replacement car narrowed down choices to Kia Rio5, Hyundai Accent & Nissan Versa Note, (obviously all less expensive hatchbacks with high gas mileages) but settled on the Mitsubishi Mirage after driving several different models from different dealers."

"Have been driving this car since I got it used around 2009 at a local dealer. Was less than 5 figures since it is a manual transmission, which are more difficult for dealers to move. Had only 32000 ish miles & nearing start of 2016 around 82000 miles so may keep it until up to at least several more years unless major problems occur. Exterior styling OK, but not outstanding. Not a major concern for me. Decent gas milage on hwy. (mid 30's). Generally has been reliable & major problem free since I have an easy driving style. Hatchbacks are the only car style I will consider & this one has fairly good cargo & passenger room. The previous owner installed upgraded sound system (radio/CD). Will probably switch to an automatic trans. for next car due to my age/health concerns as I begin social security. Will not want a bigger car than this & would consider Hyundai again (used Elantra or Accent) along with other similar sized vehicles."

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
