Question: why is the front wheels 5 lug
why does the front wheels only have 5 lugs and the back has 8

It was intended in the vehicle design for some mechanical reason.

It's for added support... Chevrolet built an animal and called it the silverado series p/u... The lead designer in r and d figured it might make more sense to pull a major load on sixteen lugs instead of ten... this lowers the likleyness of wheel offs due to stress on the lugs of the truck upping the payload capabilities of the truck
