When changing the battery why doesn't it start?

It is impossible to start the car if a battery is not connected. Before one is connected make sure it is a good batter and is properly charged to the appropriate level. Once one IS connected, make sure both cables have a good connection to the battery. Also check the alternator and starter to see if they are good. If they are bad or read at a lower voltage than normal, which means it is going bad, they need to be replaced.
