Question: Is there any way to bypass the stock amplifier in a 1987 tow

I am trying to install an after market radio and i am getting no sound, but i do if i hook a standalone speaker to it. Is this an issue with the stock amp? Is there any way around it?

Just yesterday i bought a 88 lincoln towncar and it had a factory (i believe) amp in the trunk powering the speakers and we replace the factory am/fm radio and the add-on cd player under the dash with my aftermarket deck and we ran all new speaker wires from the head unit to the speaker harness in the trunk. it was a hassle but works great. just bypass the P.O.S. factory amp and u should be good to go. I honestly dont know much about cars and car repair but i do know stereos. Hope this helps. -Loc
