Greetings Niko
Had a xk-120m coupe in 1955 purchased used. Maybe durable is not the correct question.
It was a high maintenance automobile. Some examples. The front end had ball joints with nylon lower cups that required constant attention.. Converted to bronze used on the Mark v11 and when greased regularly lasted.
The water pump has an aluminium sheave that wore out had to replace twice.. Valve guides wor out at 85000 miles. Bit the engine was quite durable. . Major engine parts wore well. piston rings were broken at this milage.
The M had a tandem master cylinder which was trouble some eventually had to switch to
a single piston system , then no more problems.. Hence in general the Jag required more mainetnance than a typical American car at this time.
Later jags like the v-12 were real troublesome (Impossible to maintain)
Would love to have my old coupe back.
Sincerely
