Question: I hear a warning beep...

Just today when at a full stop then under acceleration forward or reverse the dash makes a single beep, it sounds like the seat belt beep, but just one. Just so you know the check engine light has been on for some time, the mechanic said it needs the EVAP CAN replaced but as it is not critical I have chosen not to do it yet. Is that beep an additional warning from the computer, and if so what is it trying to tell me.
