Question: How to remove & replace the cigarette lighter housing in a 2000 Cavalier?
I cannot figure out a way to remove & replace the cigarette lighter housing in the dash of our 2000 Cavalier. I have a new plastic dash panel (black) and want to put the old lighter housing in it. The lighter housing doesn't unscrew & the small plastic tabs on the sides of the plastic trim ring don't push in because of the metal barrel inside the plastic trim ring. I could break it out, but would rather remove it normally. Older style lighter housings unscrew, then the two pieces separate easily. Chevy garage may help or a body shop, but this is a free service & am trying to save $$$. Please help!
