Tracie & ronald did not specify what year of caviliers they have.
Most cavaliers do not have a transmission dipstick. They are a sealed-long life transmission. That is the way chevy designed them
The only way to check the transmission fluid is to find the little screw in plug in the bottom of the transmission,that is underneath the car, and take it out and stick your finger in. If red fluid comes out,oh i say about halfway up your finger, you are ok.
Assuming your transmission fluid is low, you can add it on top of the transmission, there is a big screw-in cap.
But, you best bet is take to take it to a GOOD garage or your local GM dealer.
A good transmission flush & refill costs about $150.00 , every 3 years or 30,000 miles .
A new or rebuilt transmission runs from $1000.00 to $ 3,000

well under the hood same as your oil there will be a dipstick, pull it out, it should say trans or something similar check your car manuel and then there are indicators on the tip that will let you know where your levels are. get a funnel and poor the fluid in there. dont over due it.
