Question: Do I need to have my brake fluid flushed?

I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado crew cab that I run about 12,000 miles a year. At my last 3,000 mile oil change the mechanic said I need to have my brake fluid flushed because there is too much copper in the fluid. I am 55 years old and have NEVER heard someone tell me I need to have my brake fluid flushed. I have bled brakes years ago when I did my own service, but this is the first time I heard about the flush and the internet has stories on both sides with no clear cut answer. So, is it yea or nay? Change or Not?
