Question: 99 cavy overheating

just bought 99 cavy 2.2L. after driving for about 4 hours stright the temp gauge went really hot. i shut it off for about half hour and started it back up and it drove fine the rest of the day. been driving fine for 4 days when it did it again. when this happens the overflow is boiling and it stops blowing hot air. also the rad hoses are completly empty and not hot. Check the reservoir tank cap, make sure it's on tight. Then with the car cooled completely, fill the reservoir tank and tighten cap down, check the radiator for any signs of a leak. It might not be pouring, but if it's damp around one spot it might have to heat up and expand to leak. ALSO check your cooling fan, make sure it's running properly.
