Question: 97 K2500 differentials into a 97 K1500 chassis

I’m thinking of turning my 97 Z71 K1500 into a full manual 4x4 truck. My rear differential is bad so thinking about swapping to K2500 differentials. I’ve already purchased a 97C2500 to get engine, trans and clutch parts as well as pedals, wiring harness, complete dash and column for swap from 4L60E with NP243 to an NV4500 with NP241. I know I have to convert trans for 4x4 as well as buy transfer case adapter. I recently located a rolling chassis K2500 the same year that is also ext cab short box at a decent price. My question is would it be easier to swap my cab and box onto the K2500 or just do an axle swap into my K1500 ?
