Question: 2.5 NA engine: Head gaskets issue solved?

Hello,

Had blown head gaskets on my 2003 Legacy at 58,000 KM....,
It is a well known issue that apparently happened even with 2005 MY Subarus, 4 cyl, 2.5 L engines.

Do you think 2010 will be immune from this issues?
Hope they have a better head gaskets, as I really like the car and possibly will consider it.

The 2010 still has head gasket issues, but not as bad as the 2003 generation. Particularly the 4 cylinder engine. The lesser sold 6 cylinder has a different head gasket and is not experiencing the same concerns. In Consumer Reports 3 readers reported on the 2010 4 cylinder models of head gasket issues, and they gave it an average rating for engine repair. A total of 7 readers had engine problems, all with the four cylinder ranging from engine failure, valve failure, a scored cylinder, and the three reports of the head gasket. In the case of the engine failure, valve failure, and scored cylinder Subaru had to replace the engine in all three cases. It was the first year of the production of this model and it is less reliable than following years. I own a 2013 Legacy 6 cyl and the only concern I have after 105,000 miles is it burns some oil - but that is it. No issues at all besides that.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
