Question: 2002 Lexus RX 300 power steering and tranmission related question

I purchased this car when it had 76K miles and took it for oil change at 81K miles. The dealers inspection report suggested doing a transmission fluid flush and change since it was dark red. And not sure if a flush was suggested for tranmission but definitely to replace it since it was also dark color. My question is, what this is a common sales trap? Or do i really need to get these items changed? Also, for power streering is it important to do a flush? Because I can purchase a bottle for like 5 bucks and instead of paying the dealer like 90 bucks. However I was told tranmission is somethin I should leave in the hands of proferssionals. Any thoughts/comments would highly be appreciated. Thanks,
