Question: 1966 barracuda brown wire to instrument panel board at 12 vo

1966 barracuda i have 12 volts dc to the instrument panel they claim it should be 5 volts. no voltage regulator on dash panel boards the instruments are either pegged or nothing. i also replaced the alternator and voltage regulator under hood resently if that tells you anything that can help me.

The instrument voltage regulator is inside the gas gauge. It can be replaced with an electronic regulator on a chip, if it has gone bad. If your gauges will still move, they are probably all right, but don't put a full twelve volts on them!
